On December 9th last year, @pantone announced “Pantone 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + Pantone 13-0647 Illuminating, a marriage of color conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting…”. Unusually for Pantone, the color of the year is actually two colors!
The meaning behind their selection of two different colors is simple: it’s a metaphor. The colors symbolise “the light at the end of the tunnel”. Certainly, for many of us 2020 was a very grey year and 2021 has begun on much the same note. However, as the weeks and months tick by, hopefully there will indeed be light at the end of the tunnel for all of us.
With so many of us living our lives behind closed doors in 2020, we’ve been able to spend a lot of time getting our homes the way we always dreamed they could be. You might now be beginning the fun stage of your renovation project: the finishing touches! Finishing the look of your home can make you feel quite worried as well as it being exciting. After all, you don’t want to be stuck with something you don’t like in a few months’ time, or that isn’t fashionable anymore.
That’s the wonderful thing about home accessories. You can change them at the drop of a hat, with minimal effort. This is what makes them the perfect way to pick up on the year’s hot interiors trends, or indeed colors. After all, it’s much easier to change your tablecloth than it is to repaint your dining room!
This time we’re going to show how you can demonstrate that you are up to date with Pantone’s Color of the Year through your home’s accessories. Read on to find out how easy it is.
We’ve approached adding touches of Pantone’s Color of the Year room by room to make it easier for you to synchronise your home with this year’s hot color duo.
It’s very easy to nod towards the hot trends and most fashionable colors in your living room by simply changing your accessories. This is even easier to do if you have opted for a fairly neutral color scheme in the room in terms of your couch and the paint on the walls.
With this year’s Pantone Color of the Year being gray and yellow, you might well have had a head start on this color with your home’s color scheme. Gray has been super fashionable for interiors for several years now, so you might have a home which features a lot of gray tones already. As such, you might only need to remove any accessories that are not gray (or yellow) and add some colour appropriate curtains, like our Lightweight Linen Curtain – 100% European Flax, Rod Pocket Window Panel in Soft Grey ($49.99). After that switch-up, your blankets or throws on your couch for gray or yellow (or a playful pattern showcasing a mixture of both fashionable shades), some new cushions and a vibrant rug.
Et voila! Without spending much money and without too much effort you will have an uber stylish living room to relax in.
It is just as easy to bring your dining room in 2021 as it is your living room. Simply remove any existing accessories that are not appropriate to this year’s color trend and add new ones that correspond. A new tablecloth, runners and napkins will not only rejuvenate the look of your room but will also keep your home à la mode.
Our range of all natural, sustainable linen is also available in high-quality bedding, which is a fabulous investment to make for your home. Nod towards contemporary color trends by dressing your bedroom with new throws and blankets and cushions in the year’s color of choice.
