We’re excited to introduce Laura Chubineh of @thespilledsugar, a talented stylist with a keen eye for detail and timeless design. Laura has beautifully curated a stunning tablescape using our products, showcasing her signature style and thoughtful approach to entertaining.
Entertaining in the summer, especially here in Buffalo, NY, is truly so special. Warmer temperatures do not arrive until May at the earliest, and the air starts to cool by mid-September. What better way to celebrate the sunshine and take advantage of these warmer months than to create a beachy summer table outdoors for friends and family to enjoy!
Setting the Scene
I’ve always been drawn to the elegant charm and playful sophistication of Palm Beach, Florida. Palm Beach is known for its glamorous and whimsical style, characterized by vibrant colors, tropical motifs, natural textures, and luxurious vintage accents. To transform my Western New York backyard into a Palm Beach coastal paradise, I knew I had to be clever with styling. Luckily, my teak outdoor table suits the seaside theme, and the coordinating dining chairs have the prettiest woven detail to them, which also complements that signature Palm Beach textural style. The blue and beige striped area rug underneath provides a nautical feel. Beyond the table is a white egg chair, styled with 2 blue and white pillows and a woven starfish pillow. I also arranged blue and white hydrangeas in a white textured planter beside it, as well as an aqua striped scalloped umbrella. I love how the lush green garden beyond the patio creates a beautiful contrasting backdrop.
Creating the Tablescape
High Quality Linens from Solino Home:
The foundation for this tablescape is the Palm Beach striped pure linen tablecloth from Solino Home, which creates a sophisticated, colorful base with its pink, green and aqua stripes. I also used the Gabrielle napkins in Pink Lemonade to deliver a burst of color to the scene, and I love how the ruffles add elegance and flair. Linen is the most perfect luxurious yet inviting fabric for this beachy setup.

Flowers:
The centerpiece begins with a woven urn in the center of the table, filled with pink, blue and green hydrangeas, king protea stems, pink peonies and roses. The arrangement feels curated and intentional, but also breezy and effortless. Anchoring the larger arrangement are two smaller arrangements in shell vases. Each one is filled with a blue hydrangea, a pink peony and a blush toned rose.
Natural Textures:
I incorporated a variety of organic materials here, including the woven urn, raffia wrapped glassware, rattan chargers and napkin rings, wicker table lamps, bamboo flatware and bamboo rimmed plates. These textures add warmth and visual interest.
Vintage Glamour:
On top of the bamboo rimmed dinner plates sit blue Famille Rose salad plates. Famille Rose is a renowned style of Chinese porcelain created in the 18thcentury and is famously known for its intricate, colorful botanical patterns. This collection features the Famille Rose Medallion design, which features panels of botanical art, as well as the Famille Rose Canton design, which showcases butterflies and birds around a grouping of flowers. The intricacies of these patterns add opulence, and the colors within them pair so wonderfully with the pink, green and aqua hues of the Palm Beach striped tablecloth.
Coastal and Tropical Elements:
A Palm Beach style tablescape would not be complete without coastal and tropical accents. I used shell vases in the centerpiece and a shell bowl to display lemons, limes and a mix of different seashells. I also adorned each raffia wrapped glass with a slice of lemon.
Final Tip: Don’t Stress and Enjoy!
Entertaining begins with table design and ends with what is most important: to be present and enjoy spending time with friends and family. What better gift to give your loved ones this summer than the gift of gathering together! Don’t stress about the miniscule details or the food preparation. What guests will notice is the effort you brought to the occasion, and what they will remember most is feeling welcomed, loved and celebrated.
